Overview
Adult Participants in Greenspace allows providers to add caregivers, partners, family members, and other respondents to an adult patient's file so they can complete assessments on the patient's behalf. This feature supports adult-focused workflows such as couples counselling, family therapy, and caregiver-informed care, while using the same general participant flow already familiar from child patient accounts.
Participant Types
There are two participant types available for adult patients:
Caregiver/Guardian - intended for a primary caregiver or guardian connected to the adult patient’s care.
Other - can be used for partners, family members, or any other respondent who should complete assessments for the patient.
Please note: there is no separate Family Member participant type. Family members should be added as Other participants.
Adding an Adult Participant
Adult Participants can be added from either the Add Patient page or the Manage Patient page using the same participant flow already used for child patient accounts. To add an Adult Participant:
On the Add Patient page, select Adult Account to begin the new profile.
Select + Add Participants under Patient Access.
Choose either Caregiver/Guardian or Other as the participant type.
Enter the participant’s information.
Choose the appropriate participant access and delivery settings for that person.
Save your changes.
Assigning Assessments to Adult Participants
Adult Participants can be assigned assessments, receive invites, and complete assessments using the same general flow already used for Child Patient Participants.
This means a provider can assign an assessment directly to the person who should respond, rather than sending everything only to the patient. Examples of when this may be useful include:
adding a partner to complete assessments for couples counselling
adding a family member to provide perspective on the patient's progress
adding a caregiver who needs to complete caregiver-reported assessments
Visibility Permissions
Visibility permissions control which assessment results a participant can view once they have created a Greenspace account.
Please note that the visibility label has been renamed. The Personal and Child has been renamed Personal and Patient, so that the same setting works across both adult and child patient files.
Depending on the visibility level selected, a participant may be able to view only their own responses, their own responses plus the patient's, all participant responses, or no assessment responses.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can Adult Participants receive assessments the same way Child Patient Participants do?
Yes. Adult Participants can receive invites and complete assessments using the same overall flow already used for Child Patient Participants.
What happens if a patient is converted between adult and child?
Existing Parent, Caregiver/Guardian, and Other participants are preserved when a patient is converted between adult and child. The display label updates to match the patient type, but the underlying participant data stays intact.
Does this feature work through the API and integrations?
Yes. The REST API supports get, create, update, and delete for Caregiver/Guardian and Other Participants on adult patients. Adult Participants can also be created through Redox integrations. Please note: to preserve backwards compatibility, Adult Participants are excluded from list endpoints by default and must be opted into with ?type=adult.
Does this also enable Therapist Participants on adult patients?
No. Therapist Participants and Scheduled Therapist Assessments are part of a separate release. This feature only covers Caregiver/Guardian and Other participant types for adult patients.
