The Greenspace Browser Extension is a Chrome extension that connects your EMHware EHR with Greenspace. Click the Greenspace icon in your toolbar to open the side panel - it will then update automatically as you navigate between patient records in EMHware, so you can view results, manage assessments, and take action without switching tabs.
Before You Begin
You'll need:
Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge (version 114 or later)
An active Greenspace account with EMHware integration enabled
To be signed in to Greenspace in Chrome before completing setup
Time Required: Setup takes about 3–5 minutes.
What this extension does: Click the Greenspace icon in your toolbar to open the side panel. Once open, navigate to any patient record in EMHware — the panel will show links to that patient's Greenspace profile and update automatically as you move between patients within the same session.
Step 1: Install from the Chrome Web Store
Open Chrome and go to Chrome Web Store
Click Add to Chrome
When prompted, review the permissions and click Add extension
Why these permissions?
EMHware access — so the extension can detect which patient you're viewing
Storage — to keep you signed in between sessions
Click the puzzle piece icon in the top-right of Chrome → find Greenspace → click the pin icon
The Greenspace icon will now be visible in your toolbar at all times.
Step 2: Sign In
Make sure you're signed in to your Greenspace account.
If not, visit greenspacehealth.ca (or your organization's Greenspace link) to sign in before continuing.
Navigate to a tab with EMHWare open
Click the Greenspace icon in your toolbar.
A panel will appear on the right side of your screen. Click I've signed in
Approve the connection when prompted
You'll see: "View a client in your EHR — their Greenspace data will appear here."
Once you get see that message, the extension is now active.
Step 3: Confirm It's Working
Click the Greenspace icon in your toolbar to open the side panel. Then navigate to any patient record in EMHware — the panel should load and show:
If the side panel doesn't show the patient name, refresh the EMHware page, or try closing and reopening the side panel.

Each time you open a patient record in EMHware, the side panel shows:

How It Behaves
Starting a new session: Click the Greenspace icon in your toolbar to open the side panel
On a patient page: Side panel loads the correct patient automatically
Off a patient page: Side panel shows standby state — no action needed
Switching patients: Side panel updates automatically as you navigate
Troubleshooting
Extension icon not visible
Click the puzzle piece icon in the Chrome toolbar → find Greenspace → click the pin icon.
Side panel not appearing in EMHware
Refresh the EMHware page
Make sure you're on a patient record (not the home screen or a list page)
Click the Greenspace icon in your Chrome toolbar
"Not signed in" or authentication error
Open Greenspace CA or Greenspace US and confirm you can log in
Click the Greenspace extension icon → sign out → repeat Step 2 above
Side panel loads but patient is not found
The patient may not exist in Greenspace, there may be a duplicate, or the patient may not be linked to their EMHware record. Please contact your CSM or message Support via the Messenger icon on the bottom right hand corner on Greenspace.
Blank screen or loading spinner
Refresh the page (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R)
Check your internet connection
Clear Chrome cache: Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear browsing data

Frequently Asked Questions
Which EHR systems does it work with?
The current version supports EMHware only. Support for additional EHR systems may be added in future releases.
Which browsers are supported?
The extension works in Google Chrome and any Chromium-based browser, including Microsoft Edge, Opera, Brave, Arc, and Vivaldi — version 114 or later. It is not currently supported in Firefox or Safari.
Do my patients need to do anything?
No. The extension is a tool for clinicians only. Patients are not affected and do not need to take any action.
What happens if I'm not on a patient page?
The side panel will show a standby state. No action is needed — it will update automatically when you navigate to a patient record.
What happens when I switch between patients?
The side panel updates automatically as you navigate from one patient record to another. You don't need to refresh or re-open the panel.
Do I need to open the extension each time?
Yes. Whenever you close and reopen EMHWare, you will need to click on the Greenspace icon in your toolbar to open the browser extension again. In the same session, the extension runs in the background and the side panel updates automatically whenever you open a patient record in EMHware.
Is the extension HIPAA compliant?
Yes. The Greenspace Browser Extension is HIPAA compliant and is covered under your organization's Business Associate Agreement (BAA) with Greenspace.
Does the extension store patient data locally?
No. No patient data is stored locally on your device. All data is transmitted securely over HTTPS.
What data does the extension access?
The extension only activates on EMHware domains. It reads the patient context from your current EMHware page in order to surface the correct patient in the Greenspace side panel. It does not read, collect, or transmit any other data.
